WIM
The sustainable water vending machine by Wim Water is engineered to minimize waste by encouraging users to refill and reseal bottles directly at the point-of-sale. This innovative system redefines the product experience by combining convenience with environmental responsibility, actively engaging consumers to return and reuse bottles.
The focus of this effort was to develop sustainable packaging and user experiences around freshness, the design promotes a circular approach that reduces single-use plastic and supports eco-friendly consumption habits.

dEVELOPMENT
The bottle and closure development explored a range of features to communicate freshness and encapsulate new beverage experience through an automated refill/recycling machine. A key objective was to maintain an easily reproduceable, high quality product experience.
Tamper evidence seals features included breakaway bands or peel-off seals to ensure trust. Freshness signals use color changes or embossed text and audio or visual cues through mechanically engineered ‘snap’ ‘clicks’ or ‘pops’ to convery freshness.
The concepts were designed for repeated in-machine recycle and refilling with a focus on freshness and consistent sealing. Seals intended to reset each refill - Materials designed ensure durability, tamper resistance and machine compatibility.
