Febreze Vent Clip
Febreze set out to develop the next generation of their category leading car air freshener.
Through improvements allowing a more effective scent control and a refined design that highlights the brand’s technology - the vent clip will continue bringing a fresh experience to our cars worldwide.
Scent Tests
Tests were conducted, one unit was left as is, and the other had 90% of the membrane covered with two coats of clear acrylic paint, simulating the reduction of the membrane’s overall exposed area.
Based on these results it was concluded by masking some portion of the membrane, the initial overwhelming scent release after activation could be reduced, scent control mechanisms (like current) could provide greater control, and the product could last longer.
This test shows - one unit left as is, in the lowest setting, and the other had the scent control wheel sealed to not allow any airflow through the radial openings.
From these studies, significant scent control was achieved without altering the current manufacturing methods/geometry around the activation area or the front to back housings.
The goal was to develop a refined action to fully shutter the scent flow - through mechanically forcing radial vents together, a stronger seal and complete closure of the vents was achieved as tested.
